Help Struggling Readers by Becoming a Trained Orton-Gillingham Tutor

Heidi Stoffel

Did you know Dubuque, Iowa and the seven surrounding counties now have a dyslexia center to help struggling readers?

Aspire Academy, a dyslexia center with locations in Urbandale, Iowa and Dubuque, Iowa, has received generous grants from the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, and we are able to train adults, teachers, and para-teaching professionals to help struggling readers.

For a third summer, The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque in partnership with Aspire Academy, is providing free training to people willing to make a two-year commitment to become a dyslexia tutor and learn intensive structured literacy.

We pay you for tutoring and the training is free. This training costs from $3000 – $10,000 if you were to pay for it on your own (no joke).

So, if you…

  1. Have late-afternoons and evenings free…
  2. Want a part-time job that will add meaning to your life and give it purpose…
  3. Want to teach children with learning difficulties and dyslexia how to read, write and spell…

We will teach you the leading way to do this using intensive structured literacy and the Wilson reading and spelling system.

You do NOT need to be a teacher to apply, but we do require at least a two-year degree or currently enrolled in college.
