In-person Tutoring

struggle with reading

Learning occurs best when children are engaged socially, emotionally, and are not stressed. Learning occurs best when it is customized to the child. This has always been the philosophy at Aspire Academy, and it shows in every tutor we hire and train.

All of our teachers receive expert training and have access to expert resources. No other learning center in the Des Moines metro invests in training and certification for their tutors like we do.

Our tutoring works for students diagnosed with dyslexia, but it also works for any child who struggles with reading.  Our program has components for the five building blocks of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, reading comprehension and fluency.  We will screen your child to measure the type of help they need, and we customize every lesson to those needs.

Aspire Academy uses the Wilson Reading System as its Orton-Gillingham method. All of our tutors are trained by staff skilled in the science of reading, attend the Wilson Academy at their three-day, in-person, 18-hour course, and all tutors have access to the Wilson Academy website for training videos and additional support. Reading is a life skill, parents are investing money and time…choose the best.

Our staff holds monthly training to stay up-to-date on the latest in reading science.

We tutor from 7 AM – 7 PM,  Monday – Friday.

If your child attends a private school, we will consider tutoring at schools during the school day, dependent upon tutor availability and school permission.  We will also consider tutoring in your home before school starts, if there is a trained tutor available and open. A travel charge will be assigned for driving to your school or home.
